Claire uses many approaches to help women overcome their problems, including Pilates exercises, hypopressives, postural awareness training, manual/ hands on physiotherapy and the principles of pelvic floor exercise training.

Your exact treatment and rehabilitation plan will depend on your symptoms, lifestyle and birth history, overall health and stage of pregnancy (for antenatal clients). This will be agreed with you following an indepth initial consulation and assessment, face to face or through video (using zoom).

Claire has trained with the PGOP (pelvic, obstetric and gynaecological physiothrapy society), has worked in womens health within the NHS and has experience teaching pre and post natal Pilates.

Mummy MOT

A Mummy MOT is a postnatal check to identify problems resulting from pregnancy and childbirth. Almost 50% of women experience pelvic floor and abdominal muscle weakness after pregnancy, almost a third have a tummy gap at 8 weeks after birth. These issues neagtively impact a woman’s core strength and can cause instability at the lower back and pelvis, leading to lower back and pelvic pain, or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction.

Although they are common these conditions should not be seen as a normal part of becoming a Mum, and they are not something women should have to just put up with. Mums need to be able to bend, squat and move well to take care of their children and enjoy their time with them. Following a Mummy MOT an exercise programme you will be given an exercise programme to help releive your symptoms and progress you back to doing what you love.

The ideal time for a Mummy MOT is 6-8 weeks after the birth of your baby, after your GP check, however many women still have a tummy gap or pelvic floor issues years after giving birth so their is not an end time limit on when you can book a mummy MOT.

If you are unsure how and when to start getting back to exercise, have pain that has started or is ongoing since your pregnancy or are unsure if your body is healing as expected you need a mummy MOT!

A Mummy MOT is a comprehensive post natal check and includes
